Michigan, Chrysler deal is now ready and can be harvested. The U.S. side has today announced Fiat will introduce in-line four cylinder 1.4l Fully Integrated Robitized Engine (FIRE) with Multiair technology in the 2010 Fiat 500, which will be sold in the U.S..
The engine has four valves per cylinder and Fully Variable Valve Control (FVVA), known to fans as Fiat Multiair. The technology allows the engine to provide 10 percent more power, while at the same time to keep fuel consumption and emissions 10 percent lower compared to a normal engine.
The unit develops 100 hp (75 kW) at 6750 rpm and 95 lb.-ft. (129 Nm) of torque at 4250 rpm. Chrysler and Fiat are also planning a turbocharged version of the engine, they argued, provides an improved fuel approximately 25 percent compared with a normal V6.
The aircraft will be produced by Chrysler in its Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA) plant in Dundee, Michigan.
