BMW immediately handed a new automatic transmission has eight teeth acceleration (8-speed) which was developed by ZF. This gearbox will be mounted on a luxury sedan, BMW 7 Series. Interestingly, in addition to more efficient, cheaper than a 6-speed. In fact, its performance comparable to the magnificence 7-speed dual clutch on the BMW M3 which was introduced last year.

Speaking to Automotive News, BMW development chief Klaus Draeger said that luxury car manufacturers in Germany are still focused on the transmission system embracing dual clutch for models of engine capacity.

“Automatic Transmission 8-speed developed by ZF can be competed with a double clutch transmission. In addition to lighter, more efficient, and profitable in a matter of cost,” Klaus said. He also asserted that the dual clutch transmission is expensive and heavy, and only fit in a car with a longitudinal engine and rear wheel motion.

The 8-speed transmission of ZF development is designed for moving cars and the rear wheel all-wheel drive (AWD). In fact, it was appropriate for some models of BMW and Audi that was launched this year.
